You were probably taught that genes, the brain and DNA are static and unchangeable. However research has found that genetic expression fluctuates constantly and consciousness is what makes the changes.
Submerged intelligence exists as a vast untapped potential that can be cultivated by understanding the inner workings of the human brain & energy systems. The next step in our evolution is to access these processes in tangible ways to begin to expand our understanding of our truer, yet unknown, bio-inherent controls. In this talk, we will explore;
• The biological foundations of awakening
• The role of epigenetics in disease reversal
• The “field of information” and advanced brain balancing
• Moving the assemblage point of disease
• Practical exercises to enhance intuitive healing
• How to tap into intrinsic regeneration with “Regenesis”
Human beings are bio-electric in nature and should and can direct this creative force. Learn about a technique that awakens a slumbering frequency of regeneration used by a fetus or a starfish to regenerate body parts, encouraging a life changing experience deep in the cells. This ‘Field of Creation’ serves as a bridge between information and matter helping your physical, emotional and spiritual aspects to unite and awaken back to life.
Rev. Madalyn Suozzo was born with the ability to perceive human energy fields. She began sensing images, colors, sounds, feelings and stories inside people’s bodies by age 15. The next 30 years were a deep journey of extensive training and research into exactly how the body intrinsically heals itself. Her desire is to help others activate and control the very natural ability to self-heal and revitalize.
Madalyn teaches a powerful hands-on energy technique called Regenesis, the effect of which assists in all cell tissue regeneration. She lectures on the physics of the psyche, the connections between the seen and unseen worlds, where body mechanics and self-awareness meet. She has taught both nationally and in Canada and her work has been mentioned in three books on healing. She works with doctors in cancer clinics with practical approaches for psychological adaptation. Madalyn is developing the OriginalWave.com school to teach others how to perceive the invisible.

Heart of Courage
Come learn simple, liberating practices for Centering and engaging with others that you can apply right away, every day. Heart of Courage empowers you to:
- Befriend your body and deepen intuition
- Return to Center in any situation
- Keep your heart open in the midst of conflict
- Increase your capacity to engage whole-heartedly in the world
Designed for the general public, Heart of Courage is a gentle adaptation of Aikido principles of non-violence and harmony.
In these times of accelerating change and uncertainty, it is both kind and wise to cultivate simple practices for Centering on the spot and relating to challenges with curiosity. Neuroscience research shows that stress activates habitual, survival driven reactions that only handle short-term conditions. Heart of Courage cultivates alternative responses to stress that help calm the body, open the heart and refresh the mind with new possibilities. With hara, heart and head in alignment, we pattern in the healthy habit of responding from Center and connecting with Love. Heart of Courage somatic practices grow confidence in the resourcefulness of our wholeness and gently unwind the grip of survival reactivity.
“Physics of Consciousness and the Afterlife”
This presentation is on the Physics of the afterlife, as explained in Chapter 6 (Consciousness and Quantum Field Theory) of his 2012 book The Death Experience: What it is like when you die. Skeptics often use the basic concepts of Newtonian materialist science to undermine people’s belief in the afterlife. But the leading Quantum Physicists have known that the universe itself is conscious, for over 80 years now. In the last 30 years there has been much data developed which provides proof of the afterlife, yet it is not common knowledge. When we become accustomed to the idea that consciousness exists outside the body, the hypothesis that consciousness survives our physical death becomes quite feasible. Consequently, we arrive at the near inevitable conclusion that after physical death a non-local non-temporal consciousness can continue in an invisible immaterial world that encompasses past, present, and future within dark energy (the undiscerned 96% of the universe), Dr. Hugenot survived a Near-Death experience prior to completing his under graduate degree in mechanical engineering. So, during undergraduate and post-graduate school his Near-Death experience informed his understanding that consciousness underlies Newtonian materialist science.
Stuart R. Dole, Ph.D.
Science of the First-Person and the Quest of the Mystic
The quest of the mystic is perhaps humanity’s deepest longing – the quest for the meaning of life, and the quest for freedom from suffering. Stuart will tell the stories about his own adventures on this quest – both in the sciences, and through meditation and spiritual practice. Then he will present experiential exercises to lead you through some of the more interesting parts – he stumbled upon a unique approach that turns out to combine science and mysticism – headlessness. He has presented here before on experiential shamanism – this will take a different tack, an experiential evening going to the core of the mystical – the realization of the Self – who, or what, is at the core of your being, the “real you”, who you really are.
Stuart has a deep background in the hard sciences (a BA in math, and a Ph.D. in biophysics – from UC Berkeley) and in mysticism (living and practicing for over 30 years in a meditation ashram). Along the way he developed a passion for healing – physical (through bodywork and somatics) and spiritual (with shamanism and spiritual counseling). He practices and teaches shamanic healing in Santa Rosa, with his wife Anne Hatfield, and occasionally teaches meditation classes.
The mystical forms the core of Stuart’s daily practice – a special meditation, and the deep abiding awareness of the undifferentiated that underlies all thought and experience – that is the subject of this presentation. (Then he reads scientific journals to “ground” himself.)
Stuart will take you on this journey through a series of stories, meditations, and actual scientific experiments (done with some very simple equipment). This will be a different – and fun – experience! (To some degree this builds on the work of the radical British philosopher Douglas Harding.)
Chief Scientist, Institute of Noetic Sciences
How shall we interpret the fantastic tales of miracles associated with religious saints and mystics in light of today’s scientific understanding of reality? Stories about enlightenment and supernormal abilities commonly evoke reactions ranging from awed devotion to angry dismissal. Could such stories contain a grain of truth? Is it possible to rationally discern truth from fiction in this controversial domain using the rigorous tools of science?
Dean Radin will present evidence suggesting an affirmative answer. Attendees will be able to engage in Q&A with Dean at the end of his talk.
Dean Radin pictured from the movie “What the Bleep Do We Know”
Dean Radin, PhD, is Chief Scientist at the INSTITUTE OF NOETIC SCIENCES (IONS) and Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Psychology at SONOMA STATE UNIVERSITY. EFT Tapping: Changing Your Life Just Got Easier!
Learning this simple, yet powerful self-help tool may just change your life. EFT has been around for nearly 20 years now, and is practiced by millions of people worldwide-because it works! Find out how and why it works and how to use it yourself to permanently discharge negative or stuck emotions and limiting beliefs, clear oppressive memories and traumas, and let go of physical ailments that have an emotional component.
Through group tapping, demonstrations and instruction, Certified EFT Trainer Rob Nelson will get you up to speed on using this amazing tool for yourself and family and friends, and provide a clear explanation of how tapping works with the amygdala and procedural memory in the brain. Prepare yourself for some serious fun and laughter-letting go of stress and negativity with EFT feels really great!
Rob Nelson always wanted to be a therapist when he grew up, and he received a BS in Psychology (1981) and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oregon (1983) but by 1990, fed up with the limitations of “talk therapy,” he scrapped that idea and became a certified massage therapist.
In 2007 Rob was introduced to EFT (tapping) and began using it to transform his own inner life. By early 2008 that whole therapist idea had come full circle, and he’d opened a practice in Santa Rosa and began teaching classes locally. In 2010 Rob was certified by Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, and became a certified trainer for EFT Universe later that year. Rob has now trained hundreds of students and balances a thriving private practice with his national and international training schedule.
Finding Your Soul’s Path
You’ll want to bring paper and pen to not miss
capturing what you’ll discover about you.
By understanding these drives, we can better know why our various strengths and weaknesses occur. We can then use this knowledge to make more empowered choices. Our drives reveal aspects of both our dark shadow and our bright potential, our lowest and highest sides. By learning about and harnessing these drives with their integrations and disintegrations (the arrows), we can create more success, happiness, and love in our lives and move forward more elegantly on our spiritual path home.

2012 and Beyond: A Maya Message of Hope for the Future
Jan Ogren, MA, MFT, has been a member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences for over thirty years. Through her connection with IONS, she was asked to journey to Copan, Honduras, last December to be present for the 12/21/2012 transformation. She participated in the Maya ceremonies leading up to the solstice sunrise ceremony and assisted the Maya Shaman who performed two fire ceremonies, one at sunset and the other at midnight.
This experience was a life-changing event, not just for Jan personally, but for the world as we collectively move toward a new evolution of human consciousness foretold by the Mayas more than a millennium ago. Jan will illuminate this age of interconnectedness through her stories of Honduras.
Along with sharing photographs of her experiences, she will guide us in meditations to help convey the messages she received from the Maya Shamans she worked with and what she learned from the astrological configuration where the Sun, Earth and Milky Way moved into direct alignment.
Jan Ogren is an international author, licensed psychotherapist, professional photographer, storyteller and medicine woman. She is the author of Dividing Worlds, which is coming out in Brazil this year. Jan spoke at SRIONS in 2012 about her 30+ year journey as a medicine woman, trained by Native American teachers.

Practical Ways of Working With Your Dreams
Although there are still few neuroscientists who will claim that dream imagery is random and without meaning, there are now well-designed studies that demonstrate the usefulness of dreams in psychotherapy and the correspondence between dream life and waking life, including issues that need resolution.
This presentation will survey contemporary dream research and will provide instruction for participants’ own dream-working activities.

Stuart Dole, Ph.D.
The Scientist, the Mystic, and the Shaman
Stuart Dole will present a modern scientific perspective on shamanism – practical techniques for working in the spirit worlds. He will present background on what shamanism is (and isn’t), and how it fits into both world-wide indigenous cultures as well as modern western life. He will lead the group in an experiential exercise – the shamanic journey. Hopefully there will be ample time for questions and discussion.
Please feel free to bring a drum or rattle if you have one – most of the world’s cultures use “sonic driving” for the journey, rather than hallucinogens – and we will too. You might want to journal your experiences, so bring writing materials. Many people prefer to lie on the floor for journeying, so you might also bring a blanket or pad, and something to cover your eyes.
Stuart Dole, Ph.D. started his explorations into the “big questions” in the realms of mathematics, graduating with his BA from UC Berkeley (cum laude). He then embarked on several parallel lines of inquiry – in the sciences he spent 11 years as a graduate student in biophysics, also at Berkeley – first studying the physiology of meditation (inspired by joining a meditation center, where he lived for over 30 years), then developing a mathematical model of lung tumor initiation and growth. He worked in the life sciences and high tech until 2001.
While working in technology he lived and practiced at Ramagiri Ashram under the teacher Eknath Easwaran. The focus of life at the Ashram was meditation – often over four hours a day – and the study of the world’s mystical traditions from all religions.
Eventually Stuart’s interests broadened and he met the radical English philosopher and non-dual teacher Douglas Harding – most famous for his little book On Having No Head – and the Zen of the Obvious. Stuart was “beheaded” and it hasn’t come back.
He also studied and began practicing somatics and bodywork, which he continues today.
This quest to “follow the miracles” of healing led to the study of, and initiation into shamanism – you might think of it as “applied mysticism”. Shamanism (and the nature-spirit connection) has become Stuart’s passion – both as a practice, and teaching. With his wife Anne they have an on-going series of classes in experiential shamanism, both introductory as well as advanced initiations and trainings.

The Six Pathways of Destiny
Ralph Metzner, PhD
Each of us, as a human soul, incarnates by choice with a purpose, an intention or vision for this life—what we came here to do and to be. The soul chooses one or more of six great archetypal pathways in which to develop its talents and realize its vision—Healer/Peacemaker, Explorer/Scientists, Warrior/Guardian, Artist/Poet, Teacher/Historian, Builder/Organizer. For each of the six pathways, the work we do in society has its characteristic disciplines that are first to be learned and then practiced. Each of the pathways is not only a career or profession, our work in the world, each is also at a deeper level a path of spiritual development that the soul has chosen.
Ralph Metzner, PhD, is a recognized pioneer in studies of consciousness and its transformations. He is a psychotherapist and Professor Emeritus at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where he was also the Academic Dean for ten years in the 1980s. He collaborated with Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert in studies of psychedelic drugs at Harvard in the 1960s, and co-authored The Psychedelic Experience. His books include The Well of Remembrance, The Unfolding Self, Green Psychology and Birth of a Psychedelic Culture (with Ram Dass and Gary Bravo). This workshop is based on the most recent volume in his new series on The Ecology of Consciousness, published by the Green Earth Foundation.

Changing the Paradigm: Your Sensitivity is Your Greatest Strength
(and it CAN Change the World!)
Members of IONs are joined by more than just their passion for exploring and advancing consciousness; there is the shared trait of being Highly Sensitive People. This evening we explore what High Sensitivity is, and more importantly, what it is not. While this culture often identifies sensitivity as a weakness, it is truly a source of tremendous strength and contains gifts of awesome power and beauty.
We will explore the traits that make you a gifted artist, creative leader, or highly intuitive contributor to the world. Together we will step into: Active seeing and listening – The power of touch – Metaphorical use of senses – The gift of being seen -Tapping into the wisdom field and, consequently, our own intuition.
We will also learn tools and techniques for navigating effectively in this insensitive world and how to ground yourself in the knowing that while you are in a minority, you are not alone. Awaken to the strengths that are innately present in you because of your sensitivity. You’ll leave the evening with a sense of optimism, empowerment, and unabashed pride in your sensitivity!
Colleen O’Rourke is a certified Life and Leadership Coach. She is Highly Sensitive and understands the deep cultural bias against sensitivity and the devastation it causes to those possessing this gift. She has learned to cast off the “rules of domestication” that keep sensitivity relegated as woo woo, weird, or weak, and she’s embraced the power of her senses.
Colleen is on a mission to educate and empower Highly Sensitive People to thrive at work, in life, and as leaders in the world. “We’re suffering the consequences of selfish, short- sighted, greed-based authority structures, and Highly Sensitive People offer leadership based in collaboration, wisdom and respect that serves a holistic purpose. We can use our optimistic idealism to restore the balance, harmony, and peace that the world needs.”
Michael Bloch, PhD
Visiting scholar at IONS
Left Brain, Right Brain and Everything In Between
Michael Bloch PhD will discuss ways that neuroscientists such as himself test and observe the abilities of the left brain, the right brain, and the interactions between these structures. He will discuss brain abnormalities (split brain, brain damage, learning differences), and the effects of changing conditions (such as administering aromatherapy stimuli) on the brain’s processing modes. He also will discuss the possible role of the right hemisphere in presentiment as well as the role that aromas may play in mind/matter interactions.
Michael Bloch received his PhD in Cognitive Neuropsychology from the University of Southern California in 1989. Since 1993 he has been a member of the Psychology department at the University of San Francisco. His research has investigated hemispheric asymmetry and integration in normal and disabled populations as well as the effects of certain olfactory stimuli on hemispheric processing and consciousness. Currently he a visiting scholar at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, investigating the role that odors and the right hemisphere may play in the interaction of consciousness and the physical world.
Chi = mc2
“As you enter the conference room, you will have the opportunity to check whether you are physically balanced or not by putting your right foot on a scale and your left foot on another scale and, while looking straight forward, a person will read the difference between the weights on each foot. When you leave, check them again and I guarantee you the weights will be closer toward balance.” –Mark Johnson
Mark Johnson’s slide presentation, talk, and demonstrations with audience participation will explain E=mc2 (Einstein’s famous equation) and relate it to Chi=mc2. Mark will demonstrate detoxification and stimulation techniques for the physical body including all internal organs, with acupressure brain and neuronal stimulation and lymphatic cleansing. We will learn how to activate the bio-electrical flow-through our meridian body which includes all 12 meridians, the 8 extra meridians used in acupuncture, and the most used acupressure points along the meridians for maximum health maintenance. Mark will show us how to integrate our physical body and our meridian body with a simple Tai Chi style.
We will learn about the Chinese auric body, that has 9 chakra’s instead of the more familiar 7 of the Hindu system, and what aspects of our lives relate to each chakra. We will then be shown how to integrate them with the physical and meridian bodies. Lastly, with a quiet standing meditation, we can ALLOW complete integration of all 3 bodies
Mark Johnson’s psychic abilities were first tested at Duke University in 1962. He has been involved with IONS for nearly15 years and participated in several experiments involving remote viewing. He has over 45 years experience in Tai Chi, Chi Gung, Acupuncture, Feng Shui and the I Ching. He has sold over 600,000 Tai Chi DVDs and officiated over 50 Tai Chi tournaments. He has taught many famous actors: Francis Ford Coppola, Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage, Patrick Swayze, Mickey Rourke, Ralph Macchio and many others. He is one of the founders of the National Qigong Assoc. and presently on their board of advisors. He recently authored a book titled: My Life as Play and in his “spare time” is an amateur astronomer and ultralight pilot.

From his many years of work with people recovering from traumatic events, in hospitals, and with organizations seeking to change the world, Peter M. Skaife will share his insight about how every person has hidden talents and natural abilities that they can access and utilize to take effective spiritual action. He will emphasize the importance of each person discovering their own ways to take spiritual action to change what’s happening in their lives and how to help others.
Peter will also share stories about the dynamics of taking spiritual action in real-life situations. He will share personal stories about his discovery of his shamanic abilities, his work with people recovering from traumatic events, and with people who have learned to deal with their personal dark side and developed a better relationship with their personal monsters.
In his presentation, Peter will discuss several keys to taking effective spiritual action in today’s world – including learning to become an authority on who you are (your personal mythology) and opening yourself more fully to your own experience, rather than relying on the advice of experts. He will also talk about the challenges involved in people learning to open themselves to their own experience.
Peter M. Skaife is a shamanic elder, who during his lifetime has worked with many people who have wanted to learn how to discover their own inner healing abilities. His insights are not merely the results of his extensive training. They arise from his personal experiences. At two years of age, Peter almost drowned in a small lake in Northern California but was revived. At age thirteen, he was hospitalized and told by doctors that he would never survive. At fifty-two, he was severely poisoned when a railroad car full of pesticide dumped into the Sacramento River near Dunsmuir, CA. By overcoming adversity in his own life, Peter gained the strength and insights to help others.
He is the father of seven children (two biological), and enjoys cooking and playing tennis in Rohnert Park, CA. He is the founder of the practice of Qailokiko, and has recently founded The Institute for the Study of Spiritual Violence. In 2003, he authored the book, “Welcoming the Help of My Monsters – Opps! and Aha!” published by Heroic Living, Inc.
Stuart Dole Ph.D.
“Exploration of the Science of Shamanism”
Stuart will again lead an experiential evening exploration of the science of shamanism, and what it can offer to the study of consciousness and the problem of “What is Healing”. Please bring a bandana, a notebook and pen, and (if you have them) a hand drum or rattle. Also bring your questions and comments!
Stuart brings an unusual mix of background and interests to the Santa Rosa IONS Community Group:
- A PhD from UC Berkeley in biophysics, with an undergraduate degree in mathematics, combined with a strong interest in the philosophy of science and formal reason.
- An early entry into the computer field – as an engineer and entrepreneur – he has worked in bio-medicine, medical imaging, computer security, microwave metrology, and many other areas.
- Over 30 years of study of world mysticism and resident practice of meditation in a formal ashram setting, under the daily guidance of the meditation teacher Eknath Easwaran. He also spent several years studying the physiology of meditation.
- A passion for body-mind healing, in all forms: starting with a year-long training in Somatics with the Lomi School, followed by massage school and bodywork training, and 10 years of bodywork practice in Calistoga and Santa Rosa – as his “second career”.
- Learning and practicing the ancient healing methods of shamanism, shared by most of the world’s indigenous cultures – he trained under Michael Harner of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies (including the advanced 3-Year program), Sandra Ingerman, and many healers and shamans from indigenous traditions – including Celtic, Siberian, Tibetan, Brazilian, African, and Hawaiian. Currently Stuart and his wife Anne Hatfield offer training programs in shamanic healing in Santa Rosa.
- A deep love of nature and the outdoors – many years hiking and climbing, exploring and just sitting – including a little time with Tom Brown Jr. and Jon Young, but more importantly lots of “dirt time”.
Stuart has been more interested in experiential paths than theoretical – actually getting out there (or “in here”) and doing it – as the best way to inform theoretical approaches. He and Anne are currently writing a book about this.

“A Thanksgiving Ceremony in Peruvian Tradition”
Judith will be presenting a Thanksgiving Ceremony based on Peruvian Indigenous traditions.
Judy Hoaglund holds an M.S. degree in nutrition and has worked as a health practitioner for over 30 years. She lives in rural Sonoma County where her life-long interest in shamanism and spiritual growth have evolved into teaching Peruvian shamanism as well as maintaining her private healing practice.
Haywarikuy (somtimes called a “Despacho”) is a gifting back to the source for all that we have received. It is a ritual of thanksgiving. In Andean cosmology, the entire physical plane, including Mother Earth and all living things, are brought into being and nurtured by energies and beings in the spirit realm. Andean peoples create sacred offerings that are then presented to those spiritual essences most closely assisting humanity. This shamanic ceremony is known as haywarikuy in Quechua or despacho in Spanish. This ritual helps to maintain our personal and planetary balance by ensuring that sacred reciprocity, ayni , has been offered. I will speak about these “unseen beings” from the Andean perspective. We will all participate in the creation of our group haywarikuy . Come and learn how providing these offerings can benefit us in our daily lives. Please bring a sacred offering such as cornmeal, incense, tobacco, pollen, flowers, poems/drawings, etc. to offer in thanks.
“Sound Healing and Higher Consciousness”
We are vibrational beings. Everything in the universe is in a state of vibration, including every part of our body. Dis-ease is a result of this vibration not flowing freely in the body creating discordant energy.
Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine at Cornell Cancer Prevention Center in New York, said if we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through the ears, but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes.
Cymatics is the study of visible sound and vibration. Cymatic experiments show that sound has the ability to change the structure of molecules. Since the body is composed mostly of liquids, it is easy to understand how sound can reorganize discordant energies to realign with the body”s natural rhythms. This creates harmony in the body for healing and well-being.
Information is stored in stone and in bone. Sound creates a rearrangement of the molecular structure and this rearrangement presents an opportunity for information to flood in. Voice is one of the most powerful instruments for dislodging stagnant energy in the physical body opening one to their own divine gifts.
We will explore unlocking blocked energy in our bodies using our voices. Accompanied by alchemically designed instruments, we will delve inward in a sound journey to explore our inner landscape for opening our awareness to our Divine Selves.
Patricia Everitt is a Sound Healing Ceremonialist, Reiki Master, CMT, and teacher of Peruvian cosmology based on the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition. She has been in the healing arts field for over 20 years.
“Everyday States of Mind – Their Relationship to the Chinese Five Elements and Design of our Homes”
Feng Shui practiced with an eye for beauty, a spirit for healing, and a bit of uncommon sense
What will you do when you encounter indecision, dread, self-pity, rigidity or cynicism? What will you look for in the home if someone is paralyzed by inner conflict or insecurity? If there has been a sudden change in someone’s language, emotions and behavior, how can you use Feng Shui to restore balance? Does Feng Shui have something to offer someone who is having panic attacks ? The resounding answer is, “yes.”
The scope of Feng Shui teachings is enormous . Practitioners can help to reduce worry, calm a bully, minimize violence and reduce frustration. Katherine will focus our time together on the emotions that we encounter everyday.
“Energy Balancing – Break Through the Blocks and Attract What You Want”
Deborah, director of Health at Your Fingertips, will share how we can easily experience balance and harmony in all parts of our lives by utilizing easy-to-learn acupressure techniques. She will describe what we are as an energy system and how we can access the energy pathways by gentle easy-to-do touch. She will demonstrate energy flows that will break through the blocks that can hinder us from experiencing health, vitality and prosperity. We will learn how we can have a daily practice that can break through the energy blocks and bring stress reduction, pain relief, and healing for ourselves and our families. And, we will discover how this same practice will bring awareness and alignment that will allow us to attract and manifest what we truly desire in our individual lives and in our communities.
Deborah is motivated to share this information because she believes that each of us has the innate ability to heal ourselves – we just need to have the tools to do so. She believes that our greatest resource is the inner wealth that lies within us – our spiritual or inner qualities such as insight, intuition, vision, and awareness. Learning how to awaken and invest this tremendous inner wealth will enable us to attract what we want and find deep personal fulfillment, allowing each of us to be an integral part of shifting human consciousness and to make a difference in our communities and our world.
Deborah uses her knowledge of the body, mind and spirit gained from her training and experience to assist others. She works with individual clients, using a blend of bodywork techniques (including acupressure and Jin Shin Jyutsu) which stimulate the body’s natural healing process. She teaches wellness workshops that help people learn how they can bring balance and harmony in all parts of their lives.
Richard Feather Anderson
“Geomantic, Perspectives on Expanding Consciousness”
Richard will give an overview of the wide range of technologies and modalities that have been created to expand human consciousness out of the diverse cultural traditions of the ancient science of geomancy, the art of finding the right place and living in harmony with the patterns of Nature. He will discuss and then lead us through a sample of some of the practices that can be useful to respond to the effects of modern issues like global climate change, diminished sense of community, and the increasing stresses of accelerating modern life.
Richard is motivated to share these practices by his belief that the environmental and social crises we have created cannot be solved by technology alone; that we need a shift in human consciousness and sense of connection to the earth to even generate the political will to use the available technological solutions.
He will share from his broad and deep background of working with labyrinths, dowsing of earth energies at power spots, earth acupuncture, sacred geometry as a revelatory meditation practice, and creating sense of self, community and connection with the earth spirit from Native American, European, Tibetan and Chinese shamanic geomantic traditions.
“The Flock Theory of Consciousness”
As Allan’s exploration of the nature of consciousness deepened, he wondered about all the different versions and beliefs of how this universe works. Who’s in charge, where do ideas come from, how are we related, and what can we do to participate? Stuff like that, he says. One day, watching a large flock of birds swooping and wheeling through the sky, he realized no single bird could be in charge. The consciousness directing that flight must be outside of the individual birds. He saw the same possibility in schools of fish. Since his work is mostly with humans, he began to wonder if we humans were gathered in changing flocks, directed by an external consciousness. This evening Allan will explore this idea with us, as we gather together as an IONS flock. Come and find out where we swoop and soar!
Allan says: “All life is based on relationships, and the most important relationship is the one we have with ourselves. Most people have learned to believe lies denying their value and worth in the world. I am passionate about helping us all change how we “dream” ourselves and learn to love and accept themselves just as we are (and just as we are not!). When we heal our relationship with ourselves the entire world we live in changes. Want to change your world? Let’s do it!”
Allan’s background includes over twenty years as a practitioner and instructor of Alchemical Hypnotherapy and spiritual psychology, and a ten year personal apprenticeship with Miguel Ruiz, author of The Four Agreements and other books. He is a Toltec Master in that tradition and brings his wisdom of the Toltec path to his work with spiritual counseling and emotional healing. Allan is the author of The Everything Toltec Wisdom Book, and co-author of The Heart of Healing and Healing the Heart of the World, with Deepak Chopra, Dean Ornish, Caroline Myss, and many others.
Sound Healing Experiential
All matter is vibration and all matter is influenced by other vibrations – like sound, light, and other frequencies. “Sound therapy” describes a physical, emotional and spiritual balance that is promoted by the application of sound frequencies and is based on the principles of resonance, entrainment, vibration, and intention.
Patrick will briefly discuss the value and processes of vocal toning for well being and will lead our group through several sound healing techniques, including a simple breathing and toning exercise, a vocal sweep & listening exercise, and a group Vowel Toning. If time and attendance permits he may bring his sound table and perform a short sound healing demonstration with group participation for one lucky person.
Shamanic Drum Journey
Stuart R. Dole, Ph.D. offers an experiential exploration into shamanic journey work. Everyone is invited to bring a small hand drum or a rattle. After sharing some background info, Stuart will guide the group on a journey. Afterwords we’ll have a look at things from a scientific worldview perspective, too.
“It has been said that what defines shamanism is the shamanic journey is the ecstatic flight into the worlds of the spirits. It turns out that this journey is accessible to almost anyone willing to give it a try. Further, the “cosmography” of the spirit worlds is remarkably similar across many cultures, hinting that there may be an underlying structure that’s common across cultures. While a few cultures use hallucinogenic plants to access the spirit worlds, and have received a lot of notoriety for doing so, most of the world’s shamanic traditions use drumming and they are every bit as effective in their work.”
